Bats
Bats
are flying mammals. While others can glide, bats are the only mammals capable of continued flight. There are over 1000 different bat species. Bats see in the dark using a special skill called echolocation. Most bats feed on insect, while others eat fruit, fish or even blood. Bats are pregnant from 40 days to six months. Bats have one pup at a time but sometimes have twins. Vampire bats can carry rabies, making their bites potentially dangerous with their extremely sharp teeth. Bats can live up to 20 years and are most active after sundown. Bats emerge two-to-three hours after dark to feed. After feeding they return to their roosts and sleep out the night or day hanging upside down.

Chipmunks
Chipmunks
may present themselves as cute and cuddly, but do not underestimate them. In large numbers, they can burrow into your home and cause structural damage, gnawing on decks, stairs, retention walls, foundations, etc. If you store feed, seed or pet food, chipmunks will feed on your stock.

Opossums
Opossums
will be active all year round, feeding on anything that they can find, like raccoons. They will den in your garbage cans, garages and even attics. They can become aggressive when approached especially if they are carrying their young in their pouch. Opossums do not carry rabies, but their feces can carry diseases such as tuberculosis or coccidiosis.

Mice and Rats
The common House Mouse
typically lives about 4 months and is generally nocturnal. They reproduce quickly and have poor eyesight, which they use their strong sense of smell to compensate for. Though they are not aggressive they can be dangerous as they are carriers of disease and parasites communicable to humans through feces.
When rats

They can fit through holes that are as small as their head and will chew on anything including wood, insulation, wires, food, paper, belongings, etc. They are a threat to the structure and health of your home.

Raccoons

Moles and Voles
Moles
are mammals that burrow tunnels underground, feeding on grubs and worms. Though they have eyes they are almost completely blind and rely on their sense of smell to find the grubs that they eat. Though they are commonly thought of as nocturnal, this is not true. They work throughout the day in shifts of 4 hours; though they are not usually seen during the daytime because they tend to burrow deeper during the day hours, where it is cooler and less noisy. Moles can leave destructive tunnels in the lawn, and even holes they use for venting. Though the holes are troublesome, you should view them as a compliment, because moles usually only inhabit yards that are well maintained (with dirt that has low acidity).
Voles
are small rodents similar to a mouse, but with a stouter body, a shorter hairy tail, a slightly rounder head, and smaller ears and eyes. They are sometimes known as meadow mice or field mice. They range between 3 to 6 inches long and commonly eat greens like grass, clover, and the needles of Douglas fur trees.

Skunks
Skunks
are a quiet animal that may not burrow into your home, but they can dig a den under your decks, sheds, barns and garages. Skunks have a pungent spray that can hit you from up to 15 feet away. Squirrels and Red Squirrels
