The most common spider we deal with is the American House Spider, or common house spider. They are usually dull in appearance but may very to have shades of brown to other color depending on environment. 

They typically build a twisting and tangled web that are frequently brushed off as "cob webs." Their average body size is a quarter-inch long, but can be an inch or more across with legs outspread. These traits allow them to blend into the background and escape notice.
